It is evident in the play that Murasame and Matsukaze greatly miss Yukihira. However, you can also see that they still feel Yukihira's presence with them because of the words he spoke and the things he left behind. Because they both discuss his words with such significance, you can tell that the relationship they had was important. With that being said, I feel like the point of the text is that no matter the circumstances of your relationship with someone, if it's strong enough and important enough, it will carry on with you throughout time; Murasame and Matsukaze carry Yukihira's words with them and recite them when needed to reassure them that they will one day be with him again.
Lines 328-343:
Matsukaze: So we await him. He will come, Constant ever, green as a pine.
Murasame: Yes, we can trust
Matsukaze: His poem:
Chorus: "I have gone away
Matsukaze: Into the mountains of Inaba, Covered with pines, But if I hear you pine, I shall come back at once." Those are the mountain pines Of distant Inaba, And these are the pines On the curving Suma shore. Here our dear prince once lived. If Yukihira comes again, I shall go stand under the tree."
This passage addressed the point that the relationship was strong between the three of them. Matsukaze and Murasame are confident that he will return and that they will be with Yukihira again one day. They recite his words yet again to emphasize the fact that he realizes their relationship too by stating that he will "come back at once" if the need arises. By choosing to use the word "trust", you can tell just how strong their relationship was. Trust is a word with a lot of meaning and I think the author chose this instead of another word to reiterate that there was a relationship of significance between the three. I also thought the usage of the word "prince" was interesting. Many other words could've been used here to address Yukihira, but this particular word shows how Matsukaze and Murasame looked up to him, thought highly of him, and were greatly influenced by him.
My initial point focuses more on how much of a relationship Matsukaze and Murasame seemed to have, but after focusing on the passage I chose, you see how Yukihira thought highly of the relationship also. It gives you a better understanding of how the three interacted together and makes the point of the text a little more clear. By carefully reading the words used, you can see how important they all were. Matsukaze and Murasame felt that they will be Yukihira again one day and find comfort in the words he spoke to them when they need reassurance.
